How to Change Your Gamertag on an Xbox One?
Being in the Xbox world, Gamertag is one unique specialty that gives you identity while playing via Xbox but you may like to change your Gamertag to suit your preference or to keep yourself galvanized while enjoying games on Xbox.
Friends, I was getting a little bored by the ad-hoc Gamertag that I had and hence changed my existing Gamertag with a new Gamertag by following a few simple steps and what’s more interesting to know is that you can have multiple Gamertags for different platforms. So here is how you can change your Gamertag through your Xbox or through the web browser.
Amending your Gamertag from the Xbox One
Step 1 - You have to choose your Gamerpic appearing on the top of the screen once the Xbox guide opens after you press the Xbox button on your controller.
Step 2 - Now select Customize Profile after going to My Profile.
Step 3 - Choose your Gamertag for editing that is being displayed in the Customize Profile Menu.
Step 4 - On the screen meant for editing your Gamertag, type in your preferred name as your Gamertag. But please ensure that you choose the name that is unique and is not registered on Xbox.
Else, Microsoft will consider this as an offensive attempt and will definitely display a message “Sorry, this Gamertag is now reserved”. For being more compliant you must also go through Xbox’s code of conduct.
Step 5 - Now click on Claim it after choosing a new Gamertag.
Using a Web Browsing Application to Change Your Gamertag on Xbox One
Step 1 - Log on to account.xbox.com and sign in using your Email and password connected with your Gamertag ID.
Step 2 - Once the home page gets opened, go to the top-right corner of the Window. From the drop-down menu choose Profile to open the Xbox profile and activity window.
Step 3 - On the title card of the profile page simply click on the Customize button.
Step 4 - As and when the customize Profile Screen gets opened choose the Change Gamertag option.
Step 5 - Now enter the new Gamertag that you wish to have followed by clicking on Check Availability. When you get a message that your new Gamertag is accepted, you may continue tweaking it slightly to have a unique Gamertag.
Step 6 - After you have found the Gamertag of your choice, simply click on Claim It.
