Step 3: Choose the option of Remote Access given at the sidebar. 

Step 4: Now, select the option of Enable Remote Access. 

After you are done with enabling remote access, you can go ahead and use the voice functionality to control the Plex app. 

How to Link Plex to Your Virtual Assistant to Alexa?

To control Plex with Alexa, you will be requred to turn on the Plex Skill by going to the voice control service on Alexa. However, you need to have Alexa app installed on your Smartphone or web app that can allow you to sign in and access the settings. 

This will enable you to link Plex account to Alexa. Amazon Alexa app is available for both iOS Smartphones and Android devices. Therefore, you can download the app by going to the Apple Store or Google Play Store. 

Mentioned below are the steps that you need to follow to download the Alexa app on your Smartphone. 

For iPhone Users:

  • Visit the app store on your iOS smartphone. 
  • Go to the search bar and look for the Amazon Alexa app. 
  • Select Get for installing the app on your device.

For Android Users: 

  • Visit the Google Play Store on your Android Smartphone. 
  • Go to the search tab and then search for the Amazon Alexa app. 
  • After that, select install.

How to Enable the Plex Skill?

Mentioned below are the steps that you need to follow in order to enable the Plex Skill. 

Step 1: Launch the Alexa app on your Smartphone. Alternately, you can open the web app. 

Step 2: Now, go to the upper left corner of the screeen and select the Menu icon. 

Step 3: Choose the option of Skiils and Games given in the sidebar menu. 

Step 4: Enter Plex in the search bar and then click on the search icon. 

Step 5: Now, go to the search bar and select Plex. Now, choose the Plex skill appearing in the search results.  

Step 6: Select Enable to authenticate your Plex account. 

Step 7: After that, click on the button of Authorize to link your Alexa Skill to the Plex account. 

After linking Plex Skill to Alexa, you can control Plex with Alexa. 

Selecting the Media Server

Once you are done with the linking process, the next thng that you need to do is to select the media server that you can use by commanding the Plex skill about the media server that you wish to use. All you are required to do is to command Alexa to ask something from Plex.

For example, you can command Alexa to ask Plex to change the server. A list of servers connected with your Plex account will be displayed before you. From there, you can choose the server of your choice and that can be selected as the default server. 

Nevertheless, if you find that only single server is available, then it will be selected as the default server automatically. You can also take the name of the server and command Alexa to switch to that server. For instance, you can ask Alexa to switch to the Eccentric server.

Select the Plex Player 

After that, you are required to select the Plex player. This is the last step to prepare Plex control. The selected Plex player will be chosen as default and to select a Plex player, you need Alexa's help. After that, a list of players will appear before you and you can select the one that you want to select.
