How To Factory Reset Your Google Chromecast?

However, it can be a little diificult for a user to troubleshoot it if you are facing some problem with a particular feature. It does not provide any step by step troubleshooting guide and it does not allow you to make any changes in the settings.

Factory Resetting Your Device with No Network

There are several solutions that one can use in order to fix the problem of not being able to connect to the network. But the best solution that can help you fix the problem is to factory reset your device. There are many devices which do not have visual interfaces and in order to reset those devices there is a hardware method. To reset such devices one does not need to be on the internet at all. 

Look at the back of your stereo or television and check if your device is connected to a power source or not. One thing you need to ensure is that your Chromecast is getting enough power. It is not possible for one to reset the device if it is not powered on or not connected to a power source. 

Go to your device and press a small button on it. Every model of Chromecast which includes First Generation Chromecast, Chromecast Ultra, Second generation Chromecast and Chromecast audio. After you are done searching for the button on your device. Press that button and keep on holding it for a while. 

How to Reset First Generation Chromecast?

If your are using a first generation Chromecast device, then you will have to press the power button for the next 25 seconds. The solid white light will change its form to blinking white light. In case you have left your device connected to the television set, then you won't see anything in the display. The restart sequence will start once again and then you will see a restored Chromecast to use. 

How to Reset Second Generation Chromecast or Chromecast Ultra? 

If you are using a Chromecast Ulra and second generation Chromecast, the method to reset  is a lot similar but not exactly the same. You will be required to hold down the power button in case of these devices also but rather than holding the button for the next 25 seconds, you just have to wait for the LED light to turn to orange and wait for it to start flashing. Do not leave the power button until it becomes white again. 

When this will happen, you can lket go of the button. When that will happen, you can leave the button and your Chromecast will restart. You have to follow the same method in case of Chromecast Audio, which has a design similar to second generation Chromecast.
