However, these issues aren't major and they require extensive troubleshooting.

Problems that Lead to Nintendo Switch not Connecting to the Internet Issue

There are several problems that can lead to Nintendo not connecting to the internet issue. Some of the problems are listed below.

1) Nintendo Switch is in Airplane Mode

There is a chance that you forgot to turn off the airplane mode after a flight. When a device is in airplane mode, it disables all network connections. This saves your battery but you won't be able to connect to the internet.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to turn off airplane mode.

  • Go to settings
  • Select Airplane Mode
  • Disable it

2) Wireless Network is Down

Check your internet connection. If you find that your network connection is down, then maybe that is the reason why you are not able to connect your Nintendo Switch to the internet. See if your Wi-Fi is working on other devices such as smart TVs, tablets, and smartphones.

If you are facing the same problem on other devices, then that means unstable Wi-Fi is the cause of your issue. You can resolve this issue by restarting your Wi-Fi device.

3) Router is Out of Range

You must make sure that your Nintendo Switch is within the range of your router. In case your switch is outside the range of your Wi-Fi router, then it can lead to the problem of a weak Wi-Fi signal. When your Switch is not within the range of your router, it fails to detect the signal.

The loading time of the Nintendo Switch also increases when your internet signal is weak. So, you must keep your Nintendo set up close to the router. In case you are using a wireless connection and not an ethernet cable, then remove the metal objects that may interfere with the Wi-Fi signal.

4) Firewall Issues

There is a chance that your Firewall is not letting your Nintendo switch from accessing the network. If you want, you can keep the Nintendo switch into a DMZ for separating it from other devices to bypass the firewall. You can find all these details on Nintendo's support system.

5) Incompatible Security Mode

If your network's security settings are not compatible with the settings of your Nintendo Switch, then your Switch won't connect to the internet. There is a chance that your router is not supporting the security mode set by default.

To resolve this issue, change the security mode of your console to the one that is compatible with your router.

6) Inability to Detect the Internet Device

In case your device is not displaying the available network devices, then that means your Switch is not picking up signals or detecting the device. In order to fix this problem, try "Power Cycle Network".

Now, power off your router for at least 30 seconds and then restart it, give it some time to stabilize, and then try to connect to the network again. If this issue is still appearing, then try to connect your Nintendo Switch manually. You can also use an ethernet cable to connect your Switch to the internet.
