How To Fix Roomba Not Charging Issues?

Are you encountering Roomba not charging problem? If yes, then worry not as here we are going to tell you how you can resolve this issue. The easiest way to fix Roomba not charging issues is to clean the charging ports using a soft cloth.

You can use some Alcohol to remove the gunk, hair, and dust accumulation. You may need to replace the battery or reinstall it. Alternatively, you can reset Romba to factory default settings. 

1) Clean all the Electrical Contact Points

To clean the electrical contact points of Roomba, you must take a dry and soft cloth. Also, you need some rubbing alcohol for cleaning the contact points. You can also use damp melamine foam or a microfiber cloth.

in case cleaning does not resolve charging problems, then you must move on to other troubleshooting solutions. 

2) Reset the Roomba

A lot of times, this problem appears because of the software and not because of the hardware. You may see that Roomba is not showing any charging because of a bug. Therefore, you must perform a soft reset to fix this issue. After that, Roomba restarts and you go back to your factory default settings.

Below are the steps that you are required to follow to reset Roomba. 

Step 1: Press and hold the clean and dock buttons on your device. 

Step 2: Release the buttons after you hear a beep. 

Step 3: Connect the Roomba back in and then it will show you a charging indication. 

Alternatively, 800 and 700-series models of Roomba have a dedicated reset button. You need to hold it for at least 10 seconds in order to soft reset it. 

3) Use Another Electrical Outlet

Before you go ahead with some technical troubleshooting solutions, you must ensure that the wiring connectivity is fine and the sockets are working properly. You will see a flashing power light once you connect your home base to a socket.

In case you don't see the light, then that means GFCI outlet has tripped. In order to resolve this problem, you must use another electrical outlet. 

4) Try Cleaning the Docking Station

Roomba not charging issue may arise if it does not get enough power supply. One of the main reasons for this problem is the dirt accumulated on the charging contacts. It breaks the connection between the outlet and port. Therefore, it is recommended to keep the docking station clean. This can help you fix your problem.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to clean the docking station. 

Step 1: Flip the Roomba and then take it off the caster wheel. 

Step 2: Please make sure that the wheel does not have any dirt on it. 

Step 3: Take rubbing alcohol and use it for cleaning the charging contacts with a soft cloth. 

5) Try Repositioning the Battery 

The battery may get loosened from its position because of shipping or some other reason. Before you claim the warranty and change the battery, you need to ensure that your battery is properly positioned. You can easily get to the battery compartment by unscrewing the 5 screws attaching the back panel. After that, place the screws tightly and connect the Roomba.

We know that battery is the essence of any device. Therefore, if there are any minor inconveniences with it, then it can terribly impact the functionality of the robot. If you maintain the Roomba battery, then it can last for hundreds of years.

Generally, the average charging time of a Roomba battery is around 2 hours. It is recommended to remove the yellow pull tab before you charge the robot. Another way to increase the life of your Roomba battery is to remove the battery when you are not using it.
