Step 1 : Charge the Battery

First of all, the included battery has to be charged with the help of  orange USB cable. Mention that the amount of time it takes for the battery to charge will change based on whether the USB cable is connected into a wall outlet or a USB port on a computer or other device.
 
Note:
The set of two red and green lights on top of the battery will light up at the time of  charging, but only the green light will be lit when fully charged.

Step 2 : Insert the Battery

Follow the given below guidelines to insert the battery into your Spotlight Cam:

  • Push the white button to launch the battery slot on your Spotlight Cam.
  • Press the battery into the compartment until it clicks into place.
  • Securely close the battery compartment door.

Note: It can take a little pressure to completely close the compartment door. Confirm that to push on it until you hear the click that indicates the compartment is closed.

You will only take one battery for your Spotlight Cam to work correctly. If you want extended battery life though, or want to avoid downtime while charging the battery, a second battery is ready for purchase.

Step 3 : Create Your Spotlight Cam in the Ring App

Before physically setting up your Spotlight Cam, it's better to set it up in your Ring App.

Step 4 : Select Your Location to Install Your Spotlight Cam

Choose a location to install Ring Spotlight Camera battery. It's important when choosing a location to remember that Spotlight Cam is developed to be located at an optimum height of nine feet with the motion detector parallel to the ground.

This will place the motion sensor in a perfect position to discover human-sized objects at up to 30 feet.

Step 5 :  Identify a Mounting Plate Orientation

Spotlight Cam along with a mounting plate that, based on its orientation, permits you to mount it on a wall or inside an overhang. To set up Spotlight Cam on a wall, insert the mounting plate through the ball socket pointing down.

To set up on an overhang, put in the mounting plate through the ball socket directly upwardly.
 
If you want to change the direction of your mounting plate:

  • Push the button on the back of the unit to open the battery compartment.
  • Take off the security screw and weather seal.
  • Push the free button and slide the mounting plate out.
  • Insert the mounting plate in the order you want.
  • Tighten the security screw.
  • Insert the weather seal in the unused hole.

Step 6 : Install the Mounting Bracket

Mention that the "arm" of the mounting bracket can face either up or down, so try until you find what you like best. Take the bracket to mark your holes.
 
As long as, installing on a masonry surface such as stucco or brick, use the provided drill bit to make your holes, then insert wall anchors before installing the screws. If installing on a wood surface, take the install screws to screw the mounting bracket directly into your wall.

Step 7 : Mount the Spotlight Cam

Once you have installed your bracket, take off the security screw and press the ball on the behind of Spotlight Cam into the socket until it pops into place. Locate the camera with the motion detector parallel to the ground.

Step 8 : Position the Camera

With the help of the live feed on your phone, placing Spotlight Cam to your desired view. Tighten the security screws on the right side to fix Spotlight Cam in position.
