How to Set up Ring Spotlight Camera Wired in Ring App?

The Ring Spotlight Camera is an HD security camera that can be easily mounted anywhere you need extra security. It is very simple to set up a Ring spotlight camera wired in the Ring app.

Just Follow the Steps Mentioned Below and Your Job will be Done.

Step 1: Downloading the Ring App

  • You can not obviously set up a ring spotlight camera wired in Ring app in the app without downloading it. Here is how you download the app.
  • iPhone users can download it from the app store whereas the app is available on the play store for the android users.
  • Now search for “ring app” on your play store/app store.
  • Press install and wait while the app is downloading.

Step 2: Log in or Create a New Account on the Ring App.

  • For first time users, you will have to create a new account whereas already existing users can simply log in to the previous account.
  • Open the app.
  • Select the create account and follow the instructions. Fill in the required information.
  • Already existing users simply have to fill in the information and press login.

Step 3: “Set up Device”

Tap on “set up device” and then go to security cams

Step 4: Scan the QR Code on Your Ring Device.

  • The QR code for android users and mac ID for iPhone users is found on the back of the ring spotlight camera. The code is also there on the quick start guide and on the product packaging.
  • Point your phone’s camera on the QR code or mc id on your spotlight camera.
  • Once the app recognizes the code a green line/square will appear. And you can proceed with the sext step of how to set up ring spotlight camera wired in Ring app.
  • In case you face any problem with scanning the QR code or mac id, you can select “setup without scanning” and then go to “ring spotlight camera” to set up the device.

Step 5: Location

  • First-time users will have to follow this step. Ring app on your phone will require your phone’s location services. Giving permission to the app will allow you to put your address information in the app.
  • After allowing the app to use the location services you can enter your address in the app and then confirm it.
  • If you have already put a location before you can just select it from the location list.
  • Note: if you choose to skip this step, you will not get access to some features of your spotlight camera.

Step 6: Naming the Device

Now, to distinguish between other ring devices and the spotlight camera you will have to give your device name on the app to avoid any confusion. You can choose one of the default names or create a new name by clicking on custom.

Step 7: Plug in the Camera

To ensure that the wi-fi signal is good when you start the setup, plug in the spotlight camera in a power outlet that is near the wi-fi router.

Step 8: Set up Mode

Press the button on top of the ring spotlight camera. when you see the white light on the bottom of your camera blinking, press “continue” on your ring app.

Step 9: Connect to Ring Spotlight Camera

  1. iOS: Press “join” when the app asks to join the wifi
  2. Android: The device will automatically connect to wifi
  • To leave the ring app press the home button on your mobile phone.
  • Go to “wifi” in settings of your device for iOS. Whereas Android users will have to navigate to “ connections”
  • Select the ring wifi network. It will appear as “Ring-” with 6 digits of the MAC ID.
  • “Ring Setup” with 2 digits of the MAC ID.
  • Once you are connected to the ring network return back to the ring app.

Step 10: Connect Camera to Wi-Fi

  • Select your wifi network.
  • Enter the password and tap on continue.
  • Note: once the spotlight camera is connected to wi-fi it may take time to update the internal software. A white light will flash on the camera while the process is going on. Once it’s done you can press continue on the ring app and use your spotlight camera.

Step 11: Test the Device

  • Once all this is done you can finally test your device by configuring your camera’s motion zones and then test the live view from your spotlight camera.
  • And voila! You’ve successfully set up Ring spotlight camera wired in Ring app. Your device is now ready to use. And you manage the control from the ring app on your mobile phone.
