After taking out Philips Hue lights from the box, you will find a bunch of things along with it. These things include two or three light bulbs, an ethernet wire, a power adapter, and a Hue Bridge. The white and color starter kit has 3 bulbs and the white starter kit has 2 bulbs.

Setup 1 : Begin with the setup process by screwing light bulbs in the fixtures, which you wish to control wirelessly and do not forget to turn on the light fixtures. The Hue lights will power on automatically and you will get an intimation that they are working perfectly and are ready to get paired with the Hue Bridge.

Setup 2 : In the next step, connect the power adapter to the Bridge and connect the other side of the adapter to the power outlet. After that, take an ethernet cord and connect its one end to the back of your router and connect the other end to the Bridge.

You don't have any other choice but to connect it directly to the router using an ethernet cord as it does not have an inbuilt Wi-Fi. Wait for some time and let all the four lights glow on the bridge.

Setup 3 : After that, download the Android and Philips hue Gen 2 app. Keep in mind that there are multiple Philips Hue apps available on the app store, so ensure that you download the original one.

Setup 4 : Once you launch the app on your smartphone, it will automatically start searching for Hue Bridge.

Setup 5 : Tap on Set Up, when the app locates your Hue Bridge.

Setup 6 : After that, press the button of push-link on your Hue Bridge. The big round button in the center is the push link button.

Setup 7 : Select “Accept” when it gets connected.

Setup 8 : After that, set up your Siri and then HomeKit if you are a user of an iOS device. Select “Pair Bridge” which is given at the bottom.

Setup 9 : Go to “My Home” at the end of the page and then give a name to your home. For now, you can give it the name “Home”. Tap on “Create home” once you are done.

Setup 10 : After that, you will have to scan the setup code which is given on the back of the Hue Bridge. Hold your mobile device up high and the code can get detected automatically.

Setup 11 : Now, the bridge will detect all the light bulbs. After that, tap on the + icon that is placed in the lower right corner.

Setup 12 : After that, tap on “Search”.

Setup 13 : The bridge will take a few minutes in finding all the bulbs. It does not actually locate all the bulbs instead you have to click on one and then choose “Add serial number” for adding bulbs to the setup.

Setup 14 : After you are done finding all the lamps, the app will ask you to group them in rooms for easy control. After that, go to the lower right corner of the next page and tap on the + icon.

Setup 15 : Touch the text box given at the upper area of the screen and then give a name to your first room.

Setup 16 : After that, tap on the room type and then choose the type of room it is.

Setup 17 : Then, go to the section of light selection and then check or uncheck the bulbs, which you don’t wish to be associated with the room. After that, tap on the option of “Save” given at the upper right corner.

Setup 18 : You can add extra rooms by tapping on the Next option that is given at the top right corner.

Setup 19 : So, this was the initial setup procedure. Select “let’s go” to begin controlling the Hue lights.
