How to Share Kindle Books with Family and Friends?

Reading books is a great hobby as it helps you quench your thirst for knowledge. Although paper books are fun, e-books have their own charm. You don't have to carry them in your bag and there is no risk of the book getting ruined because of accidents. Plus, they are your perfect companions for daily commutes and long trips. 

If we talk about physical books, then they have their own advantage. You can lend these books to your friends. Plus, you get to have some off-screen time with your books. Earlier, it was not possible to share your kindle e-books with anyone but with the new lending feature, this can be possible.

There is a family library and many users aren't aware of it as it is not easy to find. Nevertheless, one should learn how to use the Family Library as it can be a convenient way of sharing your Kindle book collection. 

How to Share a Kindle Book with Family?

One of the best ways to share e-books is through the family library feature of Amazon. It allows you to share your books with your immediate family members. For example, 2 adults and 4 children share some or all of the audiobooks, apps, or Kindle books.

You should not worry about interrupting another reader's speed as every member of the family can progress at a separate pace irrespective of whether they are using Amazon Fire, Kinde Oasis, or Kindle Paperwhite. Moreover, they can borrow books for as long as they want. 

Sharing Titles can be a Long Process. Before You Start Sharing Books with Your Family, You need to Give Your Family, Access to the Family Library.

Step 1: Go to the Amazon account's section of Manage your Content and Devices.

Step 2: After that, move t the Preferences tab and select the option of "Households and Family Library" and then select the option of "Manage your Household". After that, select "Add Adult/ Add a teen button".

Step 3: Now, let the other adult or teen enter the Amazon email ID and password.

Step 4: Select Yes to allow your account as well as the account of another adult for sharing the payment methods.

Step 5: Select the books that you wish to share with the other adult or child and allow the other adult or child to select the books that you want them to share with you.

Step 6: Select Finish. 

Once You are Done Adding the Kids and Adults to Your Family Library and Sharing your Earlier Purchases, You can Now Lend your Kindle Books.

Below are the steps that you need to follow for the same. 

Step 1: Go to the selection of Manage your Content and Devices.

Step 2: After that, choose the option of Show Family Library link from the Your Content tab.

Step 3: Choose the books that you wish to share with your family members and then select the option of "Add to library". 

Step 4: Select a family member and then select OK. 

How can I Download a Kindle Book from a Family Library?

When you set up family sharing, accessing and downloading books becomes very easy. Below are the steps that you need to follow to download a Kindle book. 

Step 1: Go to the option of "Manage your Content and Devices" section.

Step 2: Select the books that you would like to send to your app or device and then select Deliver.

Step 3: Choose the books that should be sent from the pop-up menu and then select the option of Deliver once again.
